Excellent A level and BTEC results see Studio students pursue futures in creative, engineering and technology
Studio students are prepared for success in a digital world and the creative, entrepreneurial, digital media and technology sectors and have shown another excellent year’s results in A level subjects, including 100% being graded A* – B in Photography and Fine Art and 100% scoring A* – C in Graphics. BTEC students also performed extremely well, with the average grade a Distinction* in the Diploma IT and 94% of Engineering students graded Distinction or Distinction*.
A number of students had stand-out results this year, including engineering student Padash, who was awarded a Distinction* in Engineering alongside an A* in Maths, A in Further Maths and a B in Physics. Charlie was awarded a double A* in Art and English Literature alongside an A in Computer Science. Both Shira and Pavel are celebrating a double A* in Art and Photography, while Mariella was awarded an A in Art, A* in Graphics and a D in Psychology – Mariella will head to Leicester’s De Montford University this autumn to study Comic and Concept Art. “Thank you to my teachers for their continued support,” Mariella says.
Isaac has accepted an offer from the University of Nottingham to study Psychological and Behavioural Sciences while two Studio students have accepted offers from The Game Assembly UK and will study Game Programming at one of the best game development schools in the world.
Studio principal Jill Davies says: “School here is about children following their specialisms and going onto uni or careers whether that’s in creativity, cyber, AI or engineering – that’s what we’re here for. We’re here to guide and support them and help them fulfil their potential,” she says.
“There’s a real warmth in the relationships across the school, and between students and staff. As teachers we’re super proud of them – A-levels aren’t easy and they’ve worked their socks off! I’d like to say a huge thank you to their families, too, because they’re the hidden support network.”
Naya is now heading to Manchester Met University to study Animation, having gained an A in Graphics and two Bs in Photography and Art. “I want to say thank you to Phil, my Graphics teacher, who supported me and pushed me to do better whenever I thought I couldn’t do any better,” Naya said. “It was great to be your teaching assistant, too!”
In total, 22 Studio Liverpool students have accepted offers from the University of Liverpool and will access our unique offer, which gives them a £2,000 bursary to support their transition from the Studio to the University of Liverpool.
Creative pathways are the top choice for Studio students leaving this year, with 14 heading to creative course destinations across the country, closely followed by 13 following engineering pathways. Other destination choices include social sciences, technology and business and finance courses.
