The Studio school April round-up

The arrival of spring has seen a surplus of opportunities blossoming for students around Liverpool City Region, giving them the chance to experience a variety of fields within the creative and digital industries.

Speaking of blooming; Bloom Craft Market takes place at 92 Degrees Coffee on the last Sunday of every month, designed for those who are artistic, crafty and creative; many of whom exude such skills as they walk through The Studio’s halls. Open to all those ready to dip their toes in (paint, clay, wax, and more), this pop-up fair is a way to get your hands making and your mind creating, for professionals, hobbyists, students, those just starting out – they’re all welcome.

To extend the celebrations of art and creativity, Make is showcasing the incredible talents of Make Huyton Village at Make on the Corner, every day from Friday 23 May to Saturday 31 May. Resident makers, artists and creators will be spotlighted throughout the week, and visitors will get a firsthand insight into the inner workings of their creative minds. This is an invaluable opportunity for Studio students, whose creative minds haven’t stopped whirring since they walked through the doors on induction day. It’s a look at what a place designed to unlock the mind can be.

Running from June 7 to September 14 this year, Liverpool Biennial 2025, titled BEDROCK, will play host to a surplus of free public events, performances and community activities. With outdoor installations scattered around the region, 30 global artists and collectives will join the 14-week festival to explore the physical and social foundations of Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for Studio students to pull at the culture roots of the city and unearth the creativity that surrounds them.

Festivals, in fact, are a great space for like-minded creatives to congregate and celebrate in their shared passion. Much like those attending the Outer Waves Festival, from 24 to 25 May, in a two-day celebration of alternative music and visual art. This immersive exhibit of multidisciplinary art is exposure to local talent for our students, as well as access to inspiration from all angles.

In the same vein, Northern Marketing Festival, on June 10, is spotlighting exceptional work born from the North, as a measure of the growth and innovation the region continually exhibits. Students of The Studio, themselves, are a marker of the LCR’s ever-expanding collective imagination, but would naturally benefit from a look at those in and amongst the creative crowd up here above the waistband of the country.

An event for the gamers of the realm; Liv Game Summit takes place on June 5 at BOXPARK; a day-long event that celebrates the LCR’s current games industry strengths, sharing insights into the collective challenges of the industry, and providing a platform for upcoming local talent. Of which The Studio has plenty. Partnered with Liverpool City Region Growth Platform, Game Republic, Mastered, Milky Tea Studios and Lucid Games, the day will include several panels and networking sessions, set to build new connections and open avenues for future game creatives.

“Liverpool City Region is more than just a region for students to flourish; it’s a jungle of opportunity to help ready students for their emergence into the business and creative wilds,” says Enda Carey, Sector Skills Champion at The Studio School.

With a host of activities, events and experiences unfolding across the region over the coming months, Studio students have ample opportunity to unlock future pathways and unleash their poised potential. A new season has sprung and, likewise, our students are ready to spring into action.
